Youth Artist Unveils Mural Additions at Rockland Public Library
Rockland- An unveiling of new Arts in Action(AiA) mural panels took place at the Rockland Public Library on Saturday, November 16, with artwork designed and painted by youth artist, Winter Adams, a freshman at Oceanside High school. Adams is among the young artists who envisioned and participated in the creation of the original panels made in 2016 through an exciting ongoing collaboration between AiA and Library Director, Amy Levine, and the devoted staff at the Rockland Public Library.
All panels are original artwork created to celebrate themes of learning, the library as a community center, a love of words, and the power of imagination! Young artists in this program continue to create and bring new panels to life each year, contributing to this imaginative and spirited hallway.
Arts in Action’s Community Mural Art Workshop focuses on collaborative mural work and creating one-of-a-kind beautification pieces while also creating opportunities for young artists to showcase and share their talents in actionable ways by coupling fine arts education with community arts projects. The Arts in Action mural program is hosted by the Flanagan Community Building/YMCA and run by artist Alexis lammarino. AiA is a program of RSU13 Adult & Community Education with support from the ANONIMO Foundation.
