Adult Ed Remains Open for Remote Learning!
MidCoast— Adult and Community Education programs in the MidCoast and across the state are open and enrolling new students in high school completion, college transitions, workforce training, English language acquisition, and enrichment programs. Classes and individual tutoring are being held via video conferencing services, online resources, and telephone. Additionally, many programs are beginning to reopen for official HiSET testing.
Christy Monroe, Director of the RSU 13 program commented, “We were able to make a transition to remote learning within a few days of the school shutdown with the ingenuity and flexibility of our dedicated staff. We will continue to offer academic classes throughout the summer.”
Online and remote classes are supported by licensed teachers, advisors, and support staff to help students reach their academic and career goals.
David Watts, Director of Five Town CSD Adult Education, says, “students who have had barriers to pursuing education because of transportation issues are now finding it easier to complete their goals.”
Heidi Nolan, Director of Mid-Coast School of Technology Adult Education, implores students to, “stay in touch with us through the website, email, or phone. We are creating ways to keep some classes moving forward for you!”
Allen Lampert, Director Merrymeeting Adult Education, notes, “Adult Education is fully committed to continuing to provide quality education to our students and community education classes to the residents of our communities.”
Pam Sperry, Director of Central Lincoln County, adds, “Both staff and students have shown themselves to be flexible and adaptable during this unprecedented time. We are all working together to ensure our students are able to meet educational goals, begin or transition their careers, or simply enhance their lives by learning something new. We hope you will join us on this journey.”
